AC LED Constant-Current Driver IC Supplier

No driver.
Just light.

Lumichips integrates the complete AC driving circuit into a single chip-level constant-current source. Mounted directly onto the light source board, it runs from 3 V to 220 V with built-in surge protection - so luminaires need no external driver at all.

Driver-free High-precision constant current Wide-voltage adaptive

Industry pain points

The driver is the weakest link in an LED luminaire.

The lighting industry has long been confronted with a structural challenge: as current-driven devices, LED chips require precise constant-current driving to deliver optimal performance. Conventional solutions rely on external switching power supplies, which not only raise BOM costs and assembly complexity but also stand as the leading cause of failures in LED luminaires.

No driver. Just light - the design constraint that reshaped our roadmap.

Complicated assembly

A driver adds a separate board, connectors, wiring and a matching step on the production line.

High installation cost

Distributed "one driver per lamp" wiring multiplies connectors, labour hours and on-site complexity.

Increased maintenance risk

Electrolytic capacitors and solder joints age fastest - and take the whole luminaire down with them.

Efficiency losses

Switching conversion and long wiring paths waste energy as heat, shortening LED service life.

Our solution

Move the whole driving circuit into the chip.

We integrate the entire driving circuit into a single CRD constant-current chip, which can be mounted directly on the light source board. AC power is fed straight into the chip without any external driving components.

Luminaire level

A luminaire with nothing to fail but the light.

The CRD chip maintains highly stable current across a wide voltage range from 3 V to 220 V. Equipped with built-in surge protection, it withstands the harshest power grid conditions worldwide.

Driver-free AC LED light source boards with integrated constant-current chips
  • No external driver power supply required
  • Fully solid-state interior - no electrolytic capacitors
  • Luminaires connected in parallel with fewer fault points
Chip level

Linear drive. One chip. A complete solution.

The Lumichips CRD series are linear driver solutions specially designed for LED lighting. No inductors, transformers or electrolytic capacitors are needed - one single chip constitutes a complete driving solution.

Bare constant-current driver chip die with gold trace routing
  • Ultra-minimal circuit - zero-distance from the LED
  • No EMI electromagnetic interference
  • Multiple diodes in parallel for high-power light sources
Value points

Four properties that change the bill of materials.

Each CRD generation is specified around a single question: what would the luminaire look like if the driver simply disappeared?

Build-up explained
Technical advantage

Integrated driver IC versus resistor light source packaging.

Resistor current limiting looks cheap on the component list and expensive everywhere else - in heat, in solder joints, in flicker and in installation time.

Comparison of integrated driver IC packaging and resistor light source packaging
Dimension Integrated driver IC Resistor light source
Current stability Built-in IC closed-loop control delivers absolutely constant current. Current fluctuates drastically with input voltage and temperature variations.
Input voltage adaptability Wide voltage range - typically 6 V-24 V or wider, with fully unchanged brightness. Extremely narrow range. Overvoltage causes burnout, undervoltage dims the light.
Light uniformity Excellent. The IC sets precise current, unaffected by VF dispersion. Poor. Beads with lower VF hog current while higher-VF beads stay dim.
Thermal management Built-in Over-Temperature Protection automatically reduces current to prevent burnout. No protection. VF drops under heat, triggering sharp current surge and thermal runaway.
Dimming performance Deep stepless dimming to 0.1% with no stepped flicker across the range. Fixed gears or narrow-range PWM only - grayscale jump and flicker at low brightness.
Cost & installation Eliminates "one driver per lamp" - lamps connect to the bus in parallel with fewer connectors. Every LED bead needs its own resistor soldering, doubling solder joints and hidden faults.
